Answers
Applications
Q. Are there still places available?
A. Yes. If we run out of places, we will put this information on the website.
Q. Is there a closing date for applications?
A. No. However, we recommend that you apply as soon as you can because some of the events may become fully booked.
Q. I want to attend a careers conference in the following year. Can I book my place now?
A. Yes you can. Please send us an application form with payment. The future careers conferences will be on a Saturday. We will let you know the date as soon as we have confirmed it.
Payment
Q. How can I pay?
A. We accept payments by cheque or credit card or debit card. If you need to pay by bank transfer, please contact us.
Q. Can you send us an invoice?
A. If you are representing a school, college or other funding organisation, and need us to send an invoice, please send us an authorising letter or email. The authorising email should contain the name and address of the organisation making payment, the contact details of the person who will be authorising payment, and a purchase order number if required by the organisation making payment.
Q. How can we get the group discount price?
A. If you are paying online, the correct price will be calculated automatically.
If you are paying by cheque, please complete one application form for each person and post all the application forms to us in one envelope. You can pay with a cheque from each applicant or one cheque for the total amount – whichever is most convenient for you.
Who can come?
Q. Do students need to be accompanied?
A. No. Many students attend by themselves or in groups of students. Teachers, careers advisers and parents are welcome to attend too. We do ask all the attendees to complete an application form because we need to receive payment for their places.
Q. Can parents accompany students?
A. Yes. Each year some parents attend the conference. These parents enjoy the events and find them very useful. If you decide to attend, we do need you to pay for your place. Please complete one application form per person. If you prefer, some parents drop their students off at the conference and collect them at 4.30pm.
Q. Will Year 10 students find the careers conference useful?
A. Yes. Year 10 students have attended the events in previous years and found them relevant, interesting and inspiring.
Q. I want to study dentistry. Will the medical careers conference help?
A. The event is primarily for students who want to study medicine. However, if you attend, you will still find it useful. This is because the application and interview procedures are similar. Life as a dental student is similar to life as a medical student. In fact, many of your lectures will be the same. Also, during your interview, you need to be able to answer why you have chosen dentistry not medicine.
